How to Train Your DragonC. Fresh — a Fantasy Adventure standout

The live-action remake that no one demanded and somehow everyone liked. Dean DeBlois, who co-directed the 2010 animated original, returns to helm the live-action version, and that continuity shows: this is the rare remake that respects the source while justifying its existence in a new medium.

Opening came in at $70-80M domestic; worldwide gross has reached $640M, the highest-grossing film in the HTTYD franchise. Mason Thames is a star-making lead; Toothless — practical effects plus CG — is genuinely adorable.

Verdict: This shouldn't have worked, and it does. One of the most pleasant surprises of 2025 — a family blockbuster with actual heart.
